Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we get asked most often.

The Superclamp ATV/UTV Tie down system is the best for your ATV or UTV because it secures the vehicle by the tires, comes equipped with 4 deck hooks and each strap has a working load limit of 1,300 lbs. The 4 heavy duty ratchets are equipped with 4 large rubber coated handles and a safety locking latch. Our unique lasso design holds the tire firmly in place without the need for additional straps or parts. The Superclamp ATV/UTV tie down kit also includes a convenient storage bag.

The Superclamp ATV/UTV Tie down system is the best for your UTV because it secures the vehicle by the tires. Using an anchor point that is part of your suspension is never a good idea as that will cause stress on shocks or struts and as the suspension compresses while in transport, a tie down strap will loosen. Using a lasso design that holds the vehicle by all 4 tires allows the suspension to move freely while being uncompressed and will not cause the straps to loosen. Our genuine Superclamp deck hooks that are included in the kit provide a solid mounting solution in any trailer to ensure you are providing your tie down a safe anchor point.

The fastest way to secure your ATV or UTV is to have a dedicated anchor location for tie down straps that are then secured to the vehicle over the tires. Our unique lasso design makes this process very fast and is very simple and secure. No other straps or parts are required to use the Superclamp ATV/UTV tie down system.

Using an anchor point that is part of your frame or suspension is never a good idea as that will cause stress on shock or strut seals and as the suspension compresses while trailering, a tie down strap will loosen. Using a lasso design that holds the vehicle by all 4 tires allows the suspension to move freely while being uncompressed and will not cause the straps to loosen.

A dedicated tie down system is a better choice for your ATV or UTV because a traditional ratchet strap cannot properly secure the vehicle by the tires. A dedicated tie down system solves this problem by working specifically with the tires and not tethering to any part of the frame or suspension.

Our Supertrac (L Track) which can be used with the Supercalmp ATV/UTV system is a better choice because it has a much smaller footprint and is made from aluminum and will not rust. Traditional ratchet straps cannot secure the vehicle by the tires and therefor must attach to the frame or a suspension component. This causes stress on the shocks, struts and A-Arm bushings. As well, during transport as the suspension compresses and uncompresses, this will cause the straps to loosen which could lead to the vehicle becoming unsecured.

The safest tie down system for a side-by-side is one that uses the tires or wheels to anchor the vehicle and not one that must attach to the frame or any suspension component. The unique lasso design of the Superclamp UTV tie down system holds the vehicle by all 4 tires allows the suspension to move freely while being uncompressed and will not cause the straps to loosen. The Superclamp ATV/UTV tie down kit comes equipped with 4 – 4” deck hooks and each strap has a working load limit of 1,300 lbs. The 4 heavy duty ratchets are equipped with 4 large rubber coated handles and a safety locking latch.

You should never use a tie down point that is part of your frame or suspension. It will cause stress on shock or strut seals and as the suspension compresses while trailering, a tie down strap will loosen that is attached to the frame. Using a lasso design that holds the vehicle by all 4 tires allows the suspension to move freely while being uncompressed and will not cause the straps to loosen and is ultimately much safer.

Unless the ATV or UTV is securely resting against a wheel chock or solid object, 4 tie down straps are a must. Only using 2 straps will not provide the necessary anchor points to keep the vehicle secure in all directions. This will lead to the vehicle potentially coming free of the trailer. The best method is to use 4 straps that are securing the ATV or UTV by the tires.

Yes, using a tie down point that is part of your a-Arms is never a good idea as that will cause stress on shock or strut seals and as the suspension compresses while trailering, a tie down strap will loosen. Using a lasso design that holds the vehicle by all 4 tires allows the suspension to move freely while being uncompressed and will not cause the straps to loosen. Also, damage to the A-Arm itself may occur by the tie down hook. Pressure from the tie down can bend or break A-Arms if a sudden stop were to happen.

There is no product that will work to tie down both a snowmobile or ATV. These are 2 very different applications and appropriate tie down systems must be used for the specific vehicle.

The Superclamp is the best tie down system for snowmobiles. After almost 30 years of refinement, there is no competitive product that comes close. The superclamp is adjustable for all ski widths and heights, is lockable and secures your sled in seconds. The Superclamp is manufactured from an advanced composite material that will never rust and only weighs 8 pounds. The Superclamp can be used with Supertrac (L Track) to allow for multiple tie down points in your trailer or truck. The Superclamp-Rear has all of the features of the front Superclamp and securely holds the rear of your sled in place without the need for a strap.
